In plain words
There are many students. How did Newton come to say that this earth has a power of attraction? He was always enquiring. A fruit fell from a tree. How did that fruit fall, unless there was a power of attraction? But beside that fruit there was another fruit. That one did not fall, did it? Why did only one fall? He went on doing research on this in particular. This one was ripe fruit. It had ripened. That one had not yet become ripe. It did not fall. The earth does not draw everything. It draws only what has ripened.
Divinity is the root of every power
Attraction is not of the earth alone. Our whole body is a magnet. There is electricity in our body. Not only this. There is a kind of vibration. There is radiation. It is all in our body. Otherwise we could not live in this nature. To those who truly think on the spirit, to the great sages, the whole body appears as if a floodlight were thrown all round it. There is that much power in our body. If you touch great souls who have attained this power of yoga, you get a shock. That much power is there in humanness. Who gave it? Where did they bring it from? No, no. It springs from divinity itself!
If God's grace is there, no planet can trouble you
If we go on enquiring into divinity in this way, no one can describe God's power as "it is like this, it is like that". So we must offer proper prayers for God's grace. We need not worry at all about these yugas. Whatever the yuga, whatever situation we may be in, whatever Dharma we may follow: if God's grace alone is there, we can achieve everything. Tyāgarāja said, ‘Rāma! If Your grace alone is there, that is enough. The nine planets come into my hands. I want Your grace; what do I need these planets for?’ People think there are nine planets. No, no. There are not nine. There are just two planets. What are those planets? Ahaṅkāra and possessiveness are the two planets. These two alone seize and torment us. If we want release from these planets, we must earn grace. If the strength of grace is there, these planets cannot torment us in the least. You are all young. This year you must take part in very sacred work. You must cure all the ills of society. You must grow unity. You must cut down show. You must kill your Ahaṅkāra. Only then can the youthfulness that is divinity grow.
Strive for the strength of God
Among these young people oneness is lost. What is the cause? Ahaṅkāra is the root cause. "I, I." As long as there is brawn in their limbs and in their eyes, they keep forgetting their humanness. They look on everyone as lower than a broken cowrie. They think, "I am greater than everyone." That is not it. We must gain the courage to stand up to the hardships, losses and sorrows that come, push through them and go forward. We must hold to courage. What courage? Not the courage of strong arms. Not the courage of a strong intellect. Not strength of body. Not stubborn strength. The strength of God. Only when that strength of God comes can you achieve everything. All of you, strive for the strength of God.
Give up narrow feeling; grow broad feeling
Pray that all countries may be well and prosperous. Give no room to the narrow feeling of "my Bhārata". All are human beings. all are one be alike to everyone. We must keep loving everyone. People of whatever country are God's children, are they not! Countries are different, and the colours of people are different, but mankind is one! We must work hard to protect that race. The young must kill the narrow feeling in themselves. They must grow broad feeling. This year all the young must make a fitting effort to grow Prema. When we say "This is my body", how much attachment, how much love we have for it, how many kinds of welfare we wish for it! If we feel that not only this body but that body too is mine, how much more joy comes! If you feel that all bodies are you, joy beyond holding comes. If you hold the feeling "In all bodies it is I", what greater realisation could you want than this?
All bodies are God's
This is just what Rāmakṛṣṇa Paramahaṃsa kept saying at the end. Cancer had come in his throat. Food could not go down. Narendra came. Even food cannot go down, can it; why should you not ask the Mother? Can you not pray, "Mother, make a little food go down into me"? Rāmakṛṣṇa laughed. I did ask, my son; I asked Mother. She gave an answer too. What did she say? "When I am eating with so many mouths, what is lost if I do not eat with one mouth?" she said. When I am eating with so many mouths, what does it matter if I do not eat with one? So I felt ashamed. I will not ask Mother again. What does this mean? All bodies are Mother's; all throats are Mother's!
