In plain words

Today we are forgetting such ‘Dharma’. Today we are forgetting the truth that Dharma pervades all and moves in every form. Because the divinity that is everywhere is in every human being in the atomic form called ‘Dharma’, man is the embodiment of Dharma. For what purpose was man born? For what purpose did God give this body? It came for the sake of practising Dharma. But today we are forgetting the work we came for. We are abandoning the work we were told to do. We are inventing things of our own invention. That is why we are unable to recognise our own svarūpa. The festival days began in order to show forth the form of God. Today, they say, is ‘Vaikuṇṭha Ekādaśī’. What is Vaikuṇṭha? ‘The dwelling of God is Vaikuṇṭha. The dwelling of God is Kailāsa. The dwelling of God is heaven’: so they say, in many ways. All these are mere illusions! What is God's own dwelling place? ‘Madbhaktāḥ yatra gāyanti tatra tiṣṭāmi Nārada’. Where is My dwelling? The heart of the devotee. If you ever write a letter, write this address on it directly. ‘Madbhaktāḥ yatra gāyanti tatra tiṣṭāmi’: that is the place where I am installed. The head office address. This Kailāsa, Vaikuṇṭha and heaven: all these are branch offices. Whether these will reach, who knows. If you pray, ‘O Dweller in Kailāsa’, whether that letter reaches or not, who knows; but to the Dweller in the heart it goes directly. Without any doubt it reaches Him. Where God is, is in the heart. What does not change is the heart. The heart is not something that changes. A man may change any amount. The mind may change any amount. Feelings, however many, may change. But the heart alone does not change. That nirguṇa, nirañjana principle is the dwelling of God. That is Vaikuṇṭha, that is Kailāsa.

The mind of man is not changing

What does Ekādaśī mean? Do not think of it as a holy time somewhere, in some place, in some holy spot. The five organs of action, the five organs of knowledge, and the mind.
