Passage 5

In plain words

What is made of those eleven principles they called the form of the Eleven Rudras. Who are the Rudras? Only when the five organs of action, the five organs of knowledge and the mind come together does one become the Elevenfold Rudra. Rudra, that is, dwells in man himself. The human body is the root cause of everything. ‘His hands and feet are everywhere…’: the human body is the root cause of all. Today people are disregarding a humanness so full of power. They are forgetting the heart, which is the very dwelling of God. Hardness is biting into this heart, whose nature is soft and sweet. Everything is changing, but the mind of man is not changing.

We must turn our pure, selfless Prema towards God

Today is the start of the new year. Many old years have passed away by now. We are welcoming many new years. However many go this way, what is the gain to us? However many come, what is the gain to us? What is this thing called a year? God has the name ‘Saṃvatsarāya namaḥ’. God is the embodiment of Time. This very embodiment of Time has taken the form of the year. When sixty seconds pass, it becomes a minute. When sixty minutes pass, it becomes an hour. When twenty-four hours pass, it becomes a day. When thirty days pass, it becomes a month. When twelve months pass, it becomes a year. Every moment is a new moment. What need is there to wait a whole year for the darśan of God, who is ever new like that? This is no New year; it is the old one! You too are not new; you are the old one! He has been given the name ‘mānava’. ‘Mā’ means not. ‘Nava’ means new. You are the old one; the year is old. How many have gone by, how many are yet to come! With a worldly outlook we keep imagining and deluding ourselves with this ‘new year’ and ‘Mukkoṭi Ekādaśī’. As long as these delusions remain, Brahman will not come within our grasp. Only on the day we forget the principles of body, mind, senses, speech and frame will the principle of Brahman be ours.
