In plain words

Human beings must first forget their differences

Resolving on the peace of the world, one must enter upon education. What is the reason? In this universe, one is a single individual. In society, one is a single individual. Only when society and the universe are well does one's own welfare also lie within it. So every person who wishes for his own welfare, his own Śānti, his own prosperity must first of all desire the happiness of the universe. Narrow feelings must not be let in at all. It is from these narrow feelings that only narrow results come to us. So for the hardships we go through and for our joys alike, our own feelings are the root cause. It is with this in view that they said, ‘Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati’. The third is unity, living together and all that goes with it. Equality and wholeness: these two are what the student must learn first of all. These are not things that teachers teach. For every human being, Nature itself is the first teacher. It is Nature that makes man practise every kind of learning. The fitting beauty of these games is that people of different countries, languages and tastes forget their own narrownesses and play together in unity. To forget the differences between one person and another, to develop wholeness and live in oneness: this is man's chief quality. Human beings must first of all forget their differences. They must develop equanimity. Today, in the exercise we take and in the games we play, all we are gaining is bodily strength and health.

Only when mind and body are healthy can man experience joy

Man is not merely one who has a body. For life, it is not enough just to gain health and strength. Even when the stomach is full, the mind must also be fulfilled. That is why one must gain, in the fitting way, the health that suits the mind. Only when mind and body are healthy can man experience joy. But all the young people of today can recognise only the beauty of the body and the strength of the body. Many kinds of power lie contained within man.
