In plain words
At first people just go like this. It comes back and settles again. It is testing how much patience you have. The second time you go at it a little harder. The third time people make war on it. When one small mosquito settles on so large a body, you have become too weak to bear it. You have no strength to bear a mosquito that came only to test you. Are you to become so weak? What tapas our ancestors did! Anthills rose up over their bodies. Ants crawled over them. Beasts of every kind roamed about. Snakes went in. But they did not move in the least. Such was the firm strength of humanity. How weak it has grown today! If someone says a word that should not be said, we cannot bear it. We cannot endure it. Why is there not even that much calm? If you have not even this much patience, what can you achieve? The young today need patience very much. You must bear it. You must acquire Śānti. Without Śānti there is no happiness. You must nourish Śānti. How does that Śānti come? Śānti is gained only through divine feelings. If you cannot bear this, you cannot achieve anything. Someone has abused you. Why should you abuse him because he abused you? ‘He is a bad fellow, he abused me,’ you say. If you abuse him too, you become a bad fellow. What right do you have to say he is bad? If he abuses, let him abuse. ‘I myself abuse this body made of the five elements. If he abuses it too, it is as if he were helping me!’, so you should think. What does it matter who abuses this water-bubble body? We must look for the fault that is in us. If he abuses loudly, the words go into the air. If he abuses under his breath, the words go back to him alone. They never reach us. Why should we let this weakness grow? The young must recognise this truth well. Because someone said something, you must not take up hatred against him, nurse grudges in that hatred, and through those grudges throw society into unrest.
