In plain words
Only when the water of Prema rains down do the plants of Saccidānanda spring up
In the hot season, how clean this ground looks! Not a single plant. Go to the beach and look: there is fine sand. If rain comes on the second day, green grass sprouts on the third. Where did the grass come from? It wasn't there yesterday, was it? How did it come today? It was there yesterday too, in the form of seed. Today it has taken the form of a plant. In the same way, Sat, Cit and Ānanda are in us in the form of a seed. You are bewildered: "There is no Saccidānanda, none at all!" If you make the water called divine Prema rain down, it springs up from there. Only when that water called Prema is poured there do the plants called Sat-Cit-Ānanda spring up. We are pouring that Prema out on Prakṛti. That is why we are drifting far from this Ānanda.
Today many scientists are inventing machine after machine. They are discovering so many powers. But they are moving very far from Śānti. They cannot understand Vedānta. They cannot recognise their own true nature. They chase after a worldly name. So, though true Ānanda is right with them, they cannot experience it. All Ānanda is within us. Divinity is within us. Only when we develop human values can all this be recognised.
Students must first recognise Ahiṃsā
Of the eight limbs of yoga, it is enough to recognise the one called ‘yama’. The other limbs are contained in it. In it these five, Ahiṃsā, Satya, brahmacarya, asteya and aparigraha, stand as the outer life-breaths. Students must first recognise Ahiṃsā. In today's conditions, it is this that must be developed. Today, wherever you look, there is unrest and turmoil! Your feelings are not pure. For everything that comes in the air is entering you. Look, all powers are in the air. You do not know it. Electric waves are everywhere. Put a radio here and see.
