In plain words

From tomorrow take it three times. Cut it down. Memory power will grow. As desires lessen, will power increases. That is icchāśakti. Today we are losing icchāśakti. Because you lose icchāśakti, you meet with failure in kriyāśakti. So jñānaśakti is declining. That will power must stand on will itself. Where is that will? When human beings have no free will, doubts come up about what will become of this and whether it will succeed or not. So there is no free will. Everything depends on something else. You are sitting here now. You want to run outside. You must get past the people in your way, mustn't you! So that is an obstacle for you. For no resolve and no action is there anything that is free. Obstacles of many kinds come in. God alone has this free will. No one else has it. You are deluded that you have free will. That you will act just as you please. That is not free will at all. It is the mark of your desires. So free will can be had only by the grace of God. What does free mean? Svātantrya: Independent. In-depend: to depend on others. So you are not independent at all. The Ātmatattva alone is svātantrya. What is joined outwardly with the body, the mind and the Buddhi is never svātantrya. That is svatantra. In the physical world there may be svatantra to some extent, but who knows what will happen at which minute, when, where and how! A small example. "On the second of February I will roar like a lion in Vijayawada," said Rāmārāvu. At two o'clock that night he died. Where does all this lie? Is it in their hands? It lies in God alone. No one can understand it in any way. We think all this is svatantra, that we can do this work, but the result is not in your hands. It is in God's hands. Victory and defeat are in God's keeping.

The supreme goal of life matters most

Students! Understand this as fully as you can on the spiritual path, keep divinity in mind, little by little forget this worldliness at least in part, and along with your studies look to the path that draws near to divinity.
