In plain words

He had great Prema for the boy. But while he was treading the clay, the boy stepped into the clay. Calling "Raṅgā, Raṅgā", he forgot his own body. How then would he remember the boy? In that rapture he killed his own boy. Afterwards he grieved. That is repentance. From then on a change came over him. ‘He who gave is He Himself, He who took is He Himself. I did not do this with my own hand. His life was not in my hands. I did not do it knowingly. It was done unknowing. All this is God's will’: so he thought. Then he made a promise. ‘I am the man who killed the son I fathered. From now on I have nothing to do with this world’: so he gave his word to his wife. ‘From this day I will not touch you. You and I have no tie. You came as wife and I as husband. All this is God's decision. You live your life and I will live mine, or the two of us together will live our life in the thought of God’: so he said. But his wife did not agree. She is his other half. She said there must be at least one son to carry on the family line, and that if he would not touch her, he should at least marry again. Before that he had made a promise: ‘Without touching you, I will fulfil all that you wish.’ His wife held on to that point. ‘Do not touch me. Marry someone else and give the family an heir,’ she said. He had given her his word. There was no way out. As she said, he married. But he told her, ‘You and I have no tie; go.’ He could not keep the promise he had given as he should. He thought it over. These are the hands that gave the promise. ‘What use are these hands that cannot keep the promise they gave?’ he thought, and he brought a knife and cut them off. He thought there was nothing but the thought of God. But God is the one who knows the heart. So at once He came in the guise of a brother-in-law and bandaged those hands. He went on regarding Him as his servant. ‘Raṅgā!’ ‘Raṅgā!’ he called him, as a servant. Since the boy died, the mother kept weeping. The husband, without hands, was in this state. There was no one to do the work in the house. So He Himself spent His time cooking in the house and serving them, in this way. Who was he? That Pāṇḍuraṅga Himself, God Himself!
