In plain words

Embodiments of Prema!

As long as he has pride, no one loves a man. The day a man crushes his pride, that very moment everyone loves him. For one who has anger there is no happiness. He is forever in sorrow. When he crushes this anger, then a kind of Ānanda comes to him. As long as there are desires beyond limit, no riches come. When a man keeps his desires under control, then everyone loves him. As long as there is greed, no happiness comes to a man. The day he puts greed far from him, that day happiness comes to this man.

Human life is a blend of happiness and sorrow

Embodiments of Prema! The ways of God are beyond reach and beyond sight. To criticise the ways of God is very easy. To criticise God's līlās or God's powers is the easiest thing of all. But to understand them is very hard. To caw like crows about what is bad is not good. To sing like the cuckoo about what is good is very good. ‘Muṇḍe muṇḍe matir bhinnaḥ.’ ‘The Buddhi follows one's karma.’ What one person likes, another dislikes. What one person wants seems bad to another. How can a life lived with such a humanness try to recognise divinity? From ancient times the ṛṣis of Bhārata, having carried out many kinds of research and inquiry, have gone on spreading and teaching divinity to the world through the Vedas, the śāstras, the Itihāsas and the Purāṇas. The Upaniṣad said, ‘Raso vai saḥ.’ That is to say, the teaching of the Upaniṣads is that God fills everything, like sugar in a sweet drink and butter in milk.
