In plain words
They sit in the bus. On top of that they take over two more seats. If women or old people are standing and suffering, these fellows sit there laughing to themselves. The qualities of the man of today are all of this kind. When they see someone suffering in a film, they shed tears. Watching a film, they weep and sob. One who is really suffering before their eyes they mock. Is this the mark of humanness? It is not. Compassion is compassion wherever it is! We must show compassion to all. This loss of compassion has become a fashion. We need not fashion but compassion. This kind of thing they called kind. Mankind, they said. Today man is there, but there is no kindness. Who is man? He who has kindness is man. That is why they said mankind. Today there is no kindness. That is why all of you must develop that compassion today. You must foster that compassion today. This is what is auspicious for our lives. There are students here. Here and there, someone or other will be suffering a little, without peace. One must give such people the help they need.
God Himself is searching for the true man
Everyone says, ‘We are searching for God, we are searching for God.’ They are not searching for God. In truth, the search for God is going on nowhere. God Himself is carrying on a search for the true man. It is God who is searching, asking who is good. ‘Where is the good man?’ So He searches. Who is the man that is genuine, that is fine, that is dear? The man of today is one thing inside and another outside. So who is good? Who is bad? One must be one and the same inside and outside. How does the man of today stand? When sorrow comes he weeps; when laughter comes he weeps. All these are the marks of nature. How can the divine principle of the Ātma come to a man of such a distorted nature? ‘Antarbahiśca tatsarvam vyāpya nārāyaṇasthitaḥ’: one must be the same inside and outside. It is for such a man that God is searching.
