In plain words
On the tip of the tongue dwells Lakṣmī; on the tip of the tongue, friends and kin; on the tip of the tongue, the falling into bondage; on the tip of the tongue, death, for certain.
Embodiments of Prema!
By words alone man wins kingdoms. By words alone he loses all his wealth. By words alone he gathers friends and kin to himself. By words alone he draws his relatives close. By words alone he brings even death upon himself. For everything, words are the root. For hardship and happiness, for Śānti and happiness, for riches and wealth, man's speech is of the greatest importance. Life is rare. Time is precious. The heart is tender. The mind is very great. Man, who has such wealth, has today become petty, ignorant and without Viveka, and lives in unrest. He cannot recognise the truth of how rare, how sweet and how joyful human life is. The reason: forgetting the principle that is beyond the world, believing that worldly, physical, this-worldly desires alone matter, and becoming their slave, man is selling his life for soot and charcoal. He cannot recognise the truth that human life is a ruby.
It is time every man must follow, but time follows no one
Time is more precious still. This time is no one's friend. Time follows no one. However wealthy a man may be, however high an official, time takes no account of him. It is time every man must follow, but time follows no one.
