In plain words
On the tip of the tongue dwells Lakṣmī; on the tip of the tongue, friends and kin; on the tip of the tongue, bondage; on the tip of the tongue, death, for certain.
From Oneness Itself, Divinity
Embodiments of Prema!
Man's word is exceedingly weighty. It is very precious. It brings every kind of wealth together. And the wealth it has brought together, it hands on. We must use our words gently and sweetly, kindly and purely. Speech like that alone gives man joy. Man's word makes many people his friends. It gathers them to him as kin. A man may have only a few kin. When he holds to pure speech, it turns the entire world itself into his kin. Through man's word, pure speech brings within his reach any amount of wealth, any amount of comfort, any amount of learning, any amount of authority. When that same word is spoken under evil influences, with wicked qualities, it brings on bondage. And not merely bondage alone. Speech like this brings even death. In the world we can even win a kingdom by words. In the end we may even lose our bodies by them. Good and bad, both, lie contained in this word. To one whose word is good, the universe itself is one home. All human beings are one caste. So the word itself is the root cause that makes us believe all human beings to be one caste and the whole universe one home. Every word man utters must be kind, pure, gentle and sweet. If man is to gain, as is natural, a certain closeness, if he is to gain divinity, he must do sādhanas of many kinds.
