In plain words
The eyes are looking somewhere. You must teach the eyes good sense. 'O eye, what are you looking at? You must not look with an evil look.' see no evil see what is good, talk no evil talk what is good, hear no evil hear what is good. Think what is good think no evil DO no evil do what is good. This is the way to god. Do good, see good, speak good, hear good, think good. We must develop discipline. However much others may make you talk, you must keep your words somewhat in check.
Students! Beasts and birds keep certain disciplines. But having studied so much, having so much intelligence, man is unable to follow such discipline. Watch carefully. Near your college or near your hostel there are some monkeys. For an hour a day they keep silence. The birds too keep silence for just that hour. But man does not rest even for a single minute. The mouth keeps chattering on and on like a beaten drum. There is no such thing as silence. If someone stays silent, they mock him. You must come forward, saying, 'He keeps silence; let us keep silence.' Who is Brahma? Silence is Brahma. silence is GOD. In silence, silence itself is Brahma. Such greatness lies in the control of words. If you control your words, everything comes under control. Why was so much power given to it? The eye has only the power to see. It has no second power. The ears have only the power to hear. They have no other power. The nose has the power to smell but no other power. The tongue has two powers. One is tasting, the second is speaking. Because it has two powers, you must bring it under control first of all. Many people know this. A car has four tyres. The front tyres have a little more air. The rear tyres have a little less. Those who do not know fill all four tyres equally. That is not good. You must reduce what is more. You must increase what is less.
Ramakrishna Paramahamsa lived at Kamalakpur. There was a small ashram there. There Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's food had a little change in it. In the land of Bengal even brahmins eat fish.
