Passage 7

In plain words

You let go your own property and scramble after somebody else's property. We have no need of what belongs to others. What is ours is enough for us. We have as much as we need. We lack nothing. The whole world is contained right within us. Such being the case, why should you long for something else? Prakṛti has indeed come forth from you. Close your eyes, and nothing is seen. Open your eyes, and everything is seen. So where has all this visible scene come from? It has come from you alone, through the eyes. But today's man cannot recognise his own principle. Yet he travels into space, lakhs of miles away. He does not travel half an inch into his own inner Ātma. He makes journeys outside. However many journeys he makes outside, it is all in vain. In vain! Travel half an inch inside. That is enough. You will see everything.

In a dream we see many things. We experience many things. But when we wake, nothing is there; that is the night's dream. By day we see everyone. We do everything. We experience everything. But when we sleep, not one thing is there. This is the dream of the day. That is the dream of the night. In the dream of the day and in the dream of the night, you are there. You must regard yourself alone as the principle that matters. I have said it many times. You yourself are God; there is no God apart from you. Your inner voice is teaching you in many ways. So-ham. You pay no heed to it at all. You follow only what others say. You do not trust yourself. How can one who does not trust himself trust anyone? First of all, trust yourselves. It is in you that God is. God is there in the form of Prema. Do not waste this Prema. Lead this Prema onto the sacred path. Do not let impurity into yourself. Do not lead it onto a wrong path. Do not lead it into base bodily desires. Love for the sake of Prema. Love for Love. When you gain even an atom of Prema for God, you can experience the infinite. By what were Kucela's troubles ended? They were ended by Kṛṣṇa's Prema. If you gain the Prema of God, even a little, it is enough. We can achieve everything. There is nothing that cannot be achieved by Prema. By Prema even enemies become friends. By Prema those who are far become near. We must cultivate such a sacred, precious, great principle of Prema.

Today, because Prema has vanished, the whole world is sunk in sorrow.
