Passage 7

In plain words

God is not somewhere far away. Wherever you look, He is there. Why search for the One who is there wherever you look? There is no need to search. All that sees is only the eyes of skin. The eyes of skin all see only the outer world. This outer world is the very form of God. All that you are seeing is the very form of God. All these heads are the cosmic form itself. Having put on names and forms fashioned from what is seen, you appear as human beings; but truly, regard this creation as God. It becomes God itself. The fault is only in your sight; there is no fault at all in creation. The fault is in the sight. Whatever the colour of the glass, it appears in colours of that kind. Look with hatred, and it appears as hatred. Look with Prema, and it appears as Prema. Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati. Our own feelings, nothing else, appear to us in that way. All are the very form of God. You must develop that feeling of oneness. The power in this Prema is in nothing else. By Prema alone you can achieve anything. So many people have come in here. What is the reason for it? Prema alone is the root cause. The Prema all of you have for Swami, and the Prema Swami has for you. It has brought so many in here. Otherwise, who sent you an invitation? No one. This Prema alone binds everything together. Develop Prema. Speak with Prema. Do your work with Prema. Think only of Prema. Do every karma with Prema alone. There is no path easier than this. When you hold the japa beads and turn them, you think, ‘I am doing japa.’ The japa beads in the hand, and in the mind it is off to the washerman's house and the barber's house. When you sit in dhyāna, the smell of curry burning in the kitchen comes in. The attention goes outside. Here is the dhyāna we do. Is this the japa we do? No. What is japa? God is in me. I myself am God. This is true japa. What is dhyāna? Ahaṃ brahmāsmi. No Veda has taught a path easier than this. All the Vedas, every one of them, say Ahaṃ brahmāsmi, Tat tvam asi, Prajñānaṃ brahma: I am none other than you, you are none other than I. In those very words Satya appears to us. But the pandits twist these words this way and that, and destroy the faith we have. Give confusion no room. Do not ruin your body and your Manas with strenuous drills. The easy path, the gentle path, the sweetest path, the path most full of Ānanda is Prema alone, alone, alone.
