In plain words
Many have lost this faith, and in this world there are a great many people who have no faith and yet act as if they had. But when it comes to God, though there is faith in their hearts, out in the world they declare that there is no God, for the sake of name and fame or for the sake of their parties. If God is really there, why is He not seen? Do you believe everything you have seen? This morning a question came up among the MBA students. Swami keeps saying to love everyone. "Why should we love everyone?" I put a counter-question to it. You think, "Why should I love?" But why should you hate? Whatever the reason for hating, that same is the reason for loving. Hatred and Prema are both only the image and its reflection. Where there is the thought "it is not", there the truth "it is" is present. A small example. Is Sai Bābā on the stage now, or not? He is. On what basis? You say so on the basis of the form. After this talk I shall go inside. Then is Sai Bābā on the stage? He is not. Of the very thing that is there, he says, "It is not." If Sai Bābā were not there at all, the question whether He is there or not would not arise. In just the same way, it is because God is that the two words "He is" and "He is not" come up. The word "He is not" comes only when God is. Anil Kumar is saying, "There is God." At the very start comes the truth. We say "There is". There He is: who? Who is He? God. But after this, "There is no God." They say it. "No god" comes afterwards. So the truth comes first. "No god" comes afterwards. When atheism has grown stronger still, yet another word starts up for it: "God is nowhere." "God is nowhere": four words. If you join the "no" to the "w", it becomes "now here". We took the "w" that was here and joined it there. According to the feeling, when there is faith we say "now here". When there is no faith we say "no where". For both, faith alone is the root cause. Faith alone is man's eyes. These eyes alone are man's śāstras. The sight of these śāstras is itself this creation. This creation itself is man's sight. So between sight and creation there is no difference at all. Between the eyes and the śāstra there is no difference. What we have seen with the eyes, that we describe in the śāstras.
