Since ancient times, Indian culture has been propagating the principles of four objectives of life (), namely righteousness, wealth, desire, and liberation (, , , and ), and also the principles of the and their auxiliary sciences. The word Veda is derived from the root , which means knowledge. This knowledge teaches one how to lead a meaningful and noble life in this world by performing good deeds to attain the four main objectives of life.
