In plain words
What is the fruit these studies bring? What are we achieving through these studies? Rāvaṇa learnt the 64 branches of learning. Bhasmāsura was a man of great learning indeed! Kaṃsa was very clever indeed! He thought of the Lord's Name, and of nothing else, without ceasing. Rāvaṇa performed many penances. He was ever thinking of Śiva. He went on worshipping Śiva. But what was the use? All this he went on doing only with a material frame of mind. He went on worshipping in the grip of physical delusion. However many branches of learning he studied, however many penances he practised, however many sādhanas he performed, however many mantras he chanted, Rāvaṇa's demonic nature did not change. Only when divine feelings fill the temple of the mind do material feelings go away. Men today fill their minds to the brim with material feelings. They fill them with impure feelings. We pass our lives with thoughts that do not last. How can we gain everlasting Ānanda, which is eternal and true? This is not what has to be done. We must make our hearts pure. We must fill our hearts to the brim with Prema. With this Prema we must bring sacred Jñāna to harvest. To sow the seeds of Prema among mankind, make the flowers of forbearance blossom and give society the fruits of Śānti: this must be the chief aim of the youth of today. You must become students who give society the fruit of Śānti.
The whole world is the very form of Brahman!
Today society is waiting in many ways for Śānti. But Śānti and security are not in the world outside. Śānti and security are within oneself. Everything is within oneself. But man is forgetting that truth. Forgetting his own svarūpa, trusting the outer form, man goes searching in the world with feelings that do not last.
