Passage 9

In plain words

Only when you recognise this through such enquiry will it get onto the royal road well, without accident. For this journey of life we need suitable food, and we must have suitable health. We must build up proper strength and capability. The body is most sacred. The body itself is what shows God. The body is like a temple, like a chariot, like a kṣetra. ‘I am the kṣetrajña who dwells in it,’ said Kṛṣṇa. ‘Deho devālaya prokto jīvo deva ssanātanaḥ’: the body is a great temple. As pure as we keep this temple, so pure will God be. But we must offer this body to God. Whatever work you do, you must believe it to be God's work. Wherever you are travelling, you must think, ‘I am travelling towards God’. What is the reason? ‘Viśvaṃ viṣṇumayaṃ’. The whole world is the very form of God! No place without Him, nor any name that is not His, is to be found in the world. That is why the Bhagavad Gītā described it as ‘Sarvataḥ pāṇipādaṃ tatsarvatokṣi śiromukham sarvataḥ śrutimalloke sarvamāvṛtya tiṣṭhati’. He Himself has become all.

We must foster the supreme faith that the jīva itself is God

Embodiments of Prema! As long as there is the feeling ‘I am the jīva, He is God’, the jīva stays the jīva and God stays God! We must foster the supreme faith that the jīva itself is God. We must not make a difference between God and the jīva. Precisely because we separate these two, we are falling prey to unrest. You must believe in that feeling of the one Ātma. Do the tasks you have to do; there is no wrong in it. But when you do them with the feeling of God, no faults arise there. When you think, ‘God is in my very self’, you will not stoop to the least fault, will you! Others will not harm you in the least, will they! You will not hurt others, will you! What is the reason? God is the embodiment of Prema. Where there is Prema, no one suffers harm. Hatred enters only a heart without that Prema. Only when hatred has entered does one take to wicked deeds.
