Passage 11

In plain words

If it is research all the time, when is the close examination to happen? The scientists of today are falling into this same plight. Whenever you look, research. No experience. What was yesterday's looks new today. Today's looks new tomorrow. By the day after, it turns old. All this is new, old. From this we gain nothing. Bhakti is a far easier path than Jñāna. Jñāna is very difficult. It is not something all can attain. By the remembrance of God's Name, by that fervour of Prema, by the feeling of Prema, the devotee can bring everything under his control.

When we hold divinity in thought, word and deed with full awareness, there is no Ānanda greater than that

Students! Without letting the Prema in you go astray, without setting it on a path of Asatya, without setting it on a path opposed to society, without setting it against the wishes of your parents, you must set it on a path to which the whole of society says ‘Sai!’. But in matters of God we need no one's command. Once, Mīrā was singing all the time, ‘Giridhara Gopālā, Giridhara Gopālā.’ The Mahārāṇā grew angry. She did not yield to his wishes. Whenever you looked, at all times and in all states, she was thinking only of the Name of Kṛṣṇa. Unable to bear that anger, he seized her by the hair and dragged her out of the temple. At once a little shock came to poor Mīrā. ‘Kṛṣṇa! To go away, leaving You? How can this be possible? I cannot live away from You,’ she grieved. God is everywhere. ‘Kṛṣṇa! Mērā dil tumārā mandir.’ Not this temple. This temple the Mahārāṇā built. The temple called my heart You Yourself had built. The temple You built is eternal. It cannot be left. That is my temple! ‘Calrē man calrē man gaṅgāyamunā tīr,’ she taught her mind. Do not have a ticket to Prayāga reserved. Taking in the breath through one nostril and letting it out through the other: this they called ‘Iḍā’ and ‘Piṅgaḷā’.
