Passage 11

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

When they see some miracles, they say, ‘Ah! God!’ After a day or two, Swami is just ordinary! That must not happen. At all times you must remain in constant Integrated awareness. You must remain a sthitaprajña, untouched by change and shift of any kind.

One who puts away the vāsanās of the senses and is immersed in the thought of Viśveśvara is a sthitaprajña

In the Bhagavad Gītā they have gone on explaining the marks of the sthitaprajña in many ways. One explanation of what a sthitaprajña is says this: when it is day for all, it is night for the sthitaprajña. When it is night for all, it is day for the sthitaprajña. For example, a railway station master stays awake all night. Many Gurkhas stay awake at night. Are all of them, then, sthitaprajñas! That is not it: a sthitaprajña means this, one who sleeps to the affairs of the world stays awake in the things of God. Many people are very watchful in the affairs of the world. The sthitaprajña forgets them. He is ever immersed in divine Ānanda. Such are the marks of the sthitaprajña. One who puts away the vāsanās of the senses and is immersed in the thought of Viśveśvara is a sthitaprajña. So the Bhagavad Gītā has taught that man must gain such marks of the sthitaprajña. In the world, actions of so many kinds go on.

Fill the heart with the feeling that nothing in the world is bad

In God's doings everything is full of Ānanda! Not one thing called bad exists in the world. It is all God's creation! Can God's creation be bad? By the level you stand at, the state you are in, the intelligence you have, you may decide ‘good’ and ‘bad’. But if you go to the level beyond everything, all is good! There is no bad at all, in the world! So we must fill our hearts with the feeling that nothing in the world is bad. But until that feeling comes, we must set humanity on the right path. There is one more thing. Many people sink deep into the state of dhyāna. Divinity is like a powerful current. We think 3 phase current is powerful. God is far more powerful than that.
