In plain words

To torment the jīva and worship God is not right

If monkeys come onto our house, we take a stone and strike them. We take up a stick. When a living monkey comes onto our house, we beat it and drive it away. If a lifeless monkey's image is set up in a shrine in the bazaar, we break a coconut before it and bow down. We torment living beings, and we worship stones. Is this the truth? Instead of worshipping what is inert, worship what is full of consciousness. We beat the cattle in our own house. But that same cow beside Kṛṣṇa we worship and bow to. When a snake goes by, we chase it and chase it and beat it to death. If that same serpent becomes an ornament for Īśvara, we bow to it. This weakness has come into Bhārata from the very beginning. We must worship living beings, whatever being it may be! But today people torment living beings. They worship God. These acts of worship bring no fruit at all. Only when we worship living beings is God pleased. For He is in every living being. So, do not torment living beings. Merely by tormenting the jīva and loving God, we do not gain Prema. Worship God; worship living beings too. The jīva is God; God is the jīva. From today we must foster that kind of oneness within our hearts. This is a very good age. Now, if you fall this way or that, everything is thrown into confusion. You are walking now on a very narrow path. If you fall this side, you fall into the ocean; if you fall that side, you fall into the ocean. Here you must walk with care. For this age is very sacred. If you go to ruin now, you will be ruined all your life. If you thrive at this age, you will thrive all your life. So what you must protect today is not the country; you must protect your own Satya. You must protect your own Prema. Your Prema, your Satya itself will protect the country.

Students! Young men! Do not all of you set out foolishly, making sacrifices for the sake of protecting the country! Protect the Satya and Dharma within you!
