In plain words
The children are the ones who will raise up the Bhārata of the future. So we must strive to bring up our children on the right path. Sadly, the mothers of today who are rich do not look after their children themselves. They hand them over to some ayah and sit back at ease. What becomes of it in the end? Because the children are brought up in the ayah's hands, they weep when the ayah dies but do not weep when their mother dies. What is the reason? The mother has no closeness with the children at all. A child who grows on his mother's milk and thrives at his mother's touch will be a person of great virtue. Today mother's milk itself has grown scarce. Powdered milk has become plentiful. So the children of today are getting nothing but tin-can minds. Mothers must take care that such minds do not come. If we protect the home in this way, we shall have protected the country itself. You need not toil for the sake of the country. Teach the children to speak Satya. Teach the children what Dharma is. Have them listen well to the lives of the great. In the old days the elders in the house used to tell the children good stories. Where is that tradition among the elders of today?
Whatever we remember at the end of life is the foundation for rebirth
The people of today laugh when they look at the elders of those days. No, no. The seeds the elders of those days sowed are growing, more or less, in the villages alone. The villages alone are the basis for reviving our culture of Bhārata. Of the greatest value is our ancient culture. From the moment one rose at dawn, it began with the Name of God. You all know this. In the holy place of Kāśī, at the moment of death, they speak into the ears, ‘Śrīrāma rāma rāmeti rame rāme manorame’. The remembrance made in one's lifetime is for support at the end. Whatever we take as our support and remember at the end, that is the foundation for rebirth. So we must strive to teach our children holy contemplation of God, not telling them silly, silly words, silly, silly songs and verses.
