In plain words

Your whole life has run its course in work and chores; did you reckon this alone is life? Eating your fill three times a day, did you reckon this alone is life? Sleeping at ease till your weariness is gone, did you reckon this alone is life? No! To know the secret of life, for this very purpose God granted birth. Having intelligence, yet not coming to know, why pass all your time in vain? At least from now on, live as human beings, sirs! What more than this shall I make known?

Wealth, you say, brings every comfort: how long will it stay by your side? Wealth, you say, gives a great deal of joy: how long will it be your own? It drives away troubles and gives Śānti, you say: how many troubles has wealth given! Not seeking the happiness that lasts for ever, pouring out your life for wealth, what have you achieved in the world? How long will you stay in the world? ‘Who am I? What is my duty?’ Put this question to yourself, O man! Satya will come into view.
