Passage 14

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

That deathless learning is one alone! It is the Name of God. That Name, you,

whether you are in the forests or in the sky, whether in the town or in the village.....

Wherever you are, the remembrance of the Name must never fail.

In one who has God's grace, envy vanishes

Students! What you must learn today, what our śāstras chiefly taught, is the contemplation of God! Through such contemplation we must drive away all our cares. There is no other medicine greater than this. At the very start I spoke of envy. We must not be envious because another has something. We must not be envious at seeing another's position. We must not be envious at seeing another's name and standing. We must not be envious at seeing another's fame and honour. This envy is a disease that has no cure. As cancer is to the body, such a disease is envy to your mind. No one knows how this disease, the cancer called envy, will go. But one who has won God's grace cancels the cancer. In one who has God's grace, envy vanishes. Except through Prema for God alone, this disease is not cured by any other medicine. So we must search for the right way to win Prema for God. That is ‘Sarvadā sarvakāleṣu sarvatra haricintanaṃ.’
