In plain words
This is not what we should ask for. What we must ask for, we must ask for Him alone. ‘I want only You. I don't want anything else. I have everything. Because I have them all, I have come and am here with You. Otherwise I too would have gone away. The one thing I do not have is You! I want You’: so we must ask. This wish alone is true kāma. If we achieve these three puruṣārthas, then it is Mokṣa itself! That is moha-kṣaya. That is Mokṣa. This moha-kṣaya is Mokṣa. When we inquire into Dharma, artha, Mokṣa and kāma with these inner meanings, pure, holy, precious, such lofty wishes arise. If we make these fruitful, this itself is the true puruṣārtha.
All Sādhanas Are for the Dissolution of the Manas!
Embodiments of Prema! Every person, whether at the time of praying to God, or of worshipping Him, or of adoring Him, or of meditating, or of doing japa, does all these with the Manas. So he cannot fulfil his heart's desire. He sits down to meditate on God, poor fellow! Without stirring, without moving, he sits like a corpse. He truly is a corpse! Not Śiva. What is the reason? He is meditating with the Manas. So long as one meditates with this Manas, no purity at all is gained. For all sādhanas are tasks done to kill the Manas. What does this Manas do? ‘This fellow is doing sādhanas to kill me. So I shall kill him, but I shall not die’: with this it develops a feeling hostile to him.
