Envy is a most wicked disease. Seeing one household, another household feels envy. Seeing one person, another person feels envy. Seeing one village, another village feels envy. Seeing one country, another country feels envy. This envy is spreading. We must first of all root out this envy. We must root out this hatred. We must root out anger. How are we to root out these three? With Prema alone! There is no stronger medicine than Prema. So foster Prema! Whomever you see, speak smiling, ever smiling. Even if your enemy comes, greet him with Prema: ‘Are you well, sir!’ If you greet him ‘Sir!’, what a change comes into his heart! If you say ‘Chī’ to an enemy, he too will say ‘Chī’ and go away. ‘Yad bhāvaṃ tad bhavati.’ That itself is the heart being witness to the heart. We must greet everyone with Prema. From today, develop Prema as far as possible! Root out hatred! Root out envy! Do not let anger come near! The farther you keep from these, the more Ānanda you will enjoy. ‘Swami! very very Happy Birthday,’ said the foreigners. I am always happy. Happy is not in you; you yourselves be happy, I said. There is no need to wish Me Happy Birthday. I am always happy. You say Happy Birthday once a year. I do not wait a year for Happy. Every moment I am happy. You too, be happy every moment, be healthy, share the boon called Prema with the world, and make your lives fulfilled.
