Passage 15

In plain words

When educated children work in villages where no one has studied at all, even those unlettered people grow eager: ‘If the students themselves come and enter into service, we too must enter it’. In this way we will have given them enthusiasm and encouragement. But do not give Ahaṅkāra the least opening, thinking that we are educated. What is our education? We must use all of it to help people. We must keep the welfare of society in view. That itself is our true life. For this we must earn God's grace. If we become fit for that grace, we will have achieved everything. First, service. To whom? To society. If we are to know the Sai principle, we must first of all enter into service. That is S-Service, A-Association, I-Individual. We must develop our personality. Only then will we have made our life worthwhile. Man is not merely one who has a form. He is one filled with Prema. This Prema is in you in full. But they are misusing it. Through what? They use Prema in attachment to the body. So offer it up with attachment to the Ātma. That principle of Prema will grow a thousandfold beyond that. Then Śānti and joy alone will spring up for you everywhere.

If we are fit for the Prema of God, He Himself gives everything

Students! It is not that you are merely to sell many goods, calling it money, calling it business. This is not what we must sell. We must sell the good qualities in us. We must give good qualities to all. If we give those good qualities to them, the bad in them is made clean. For example, suppose there is a man who sells soap! The soap is very good indeed, and fragrant too! It can make things clean. When you wash your face with that soap, all the dirt goes, and the face becomes very bright. So sell the soap called good qualities. Bad qualities leave others, and they will be clean.
