In plain words
What you must sell is good qualities. What you must take is the joy of others alone! That itself is the fitting fee. You must not sell for the sake of money. You must do it for the sake of enlarging the heart. Yet in the worldly way this business has to go on. You must go to a factory. You must work there. You must do it to his satisfaction. There is a family, there is a wife, there are children; you have to support them, have you not? But rather than keeping only this in view, work with your aim set on God. God Himself makes everything happen. He Himself looks after everything. You know what Kucela was like. He went to Kṛṣṇa meaning to ask for money. Kucela had eleven children. On seeing Kṛṣṇa he forgot everything. He became fit for Kṛṣṇa's grace. He never even asked, ‘I want this, I want that’. Even so, Kṛṣṇa Himself gave everything. It is enough to become fit for God's Prema; He Himself gives everything. But one must do the work that makes one fit for His Prema, must one not! For that, these three must not be there: envy, hatred, anger. These are very dangerous qualities. People think it is the nine planets that afflict us. No, no; these two planets alone afflict us. We must keep far from these two planets. If there is no hatred or envy at all, you will come to good progress. So, children! The portion due to each one comes to him. When you too wish to receive that portion, you must develop in yourselves the feelings fit for it.
Along with education, saṃskāra is very necessary
Only when we develop saṃskāra along with education, and social feelings along with saṃskāra, does our education become worthwhile. Along with education, saṃskāra is very necessary. Only when there is Positive along with Negative does the bulb light up. If you fit a bulb with Negative but no Positive, how will it light up? Or if there is Positive and no Negative, there is no use. That must be there, and this must be there. We must bring the two into harmony. Do your jobs and earn money. But keep service of society in view.
