Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

God is the supreme light. From the supreme light alone these lights of life have come into being. So we must think of ourselves as lights of life, hold the light in one-pointed concentration, meditate on it, and so merge in Divinity. Instead of enquiring separately and thinking of it as different, you must try to follow the right path.

You do bhajan. You do japa. You do meditation. You do tapas. You perform yajña. You perform yāgas. You keep vratas. All these are natural, worldly paths of pravṛtti, not paths of nivṛtti. These are good deeds. None of this is spiritual. Only what belongs to the Ātma is spiritual. But for the mundane world these take shape as good deeds. But does not the strength that comes to us match the actions we do? There will surely be a fruit. Its result will be the result that belongs to good deeds. Results that belong to the Ātma do not come. So, doing these actions as good deeds, we must move on from good deeds into what is divine and belongs to the Ātma. If we stay in these good deeds alone, however long, when shall we reach the sacred path? All these good deeds are bound up with duality. From duality you must enter non-duality. Only when you reach non-duality do you become a jñānī. ‘The vision of non-duality is Jñāna.’

The body is a generator of many kinds of power

In your body there are all the minerals it needs. All the five elements are minerals formed in the body. The wealth of minerals is in our body from the nails to the crown of the head. From tamarind, from lime juice, from sweet-lime juice, acid forms. When this acid joins this wealth of minerals, current begins. So the body is like a small generator. Not a generator alone: all the feelings that enter you come out through your mouth. So man is just like a radio. The radio source is in man. Every object you saw before, you can see again when you think of it. This is the T.V. in you. So the T.V., the radio, magnetic power, electrical power: all are in you. The whole world is one divine power of attraction. This power of attraction attracts all. This very thing they called a magnet. When children are asked what a magnet is: ‘If you take a piece of iron near it, it attracts it; that is what they call a magnet.’ A great mistake. All that is in the world is magnet. Seeing green grass, the beast runs off to it. Between these two there is nothing but magnet. Seeing her children, the mother feeds them lovingly. Between mother and child there is nothing but magnet. Between husband and wife there is nothing but magnet. Between the mongoose and the snake there is nothing but magnet. Between the flower and the bee there is nothing but magnet.

‘Ramayati iti Rāmaḥ,’ they said. He who delights all is Rāma, they said. Who is Rāma? Daśaratha's Rāma, or Ātmārāma? Ātmārāma! It joins all and attracts all. If so many people have come and gathered here today, this attraction itself is the root cause. When you put out natural flowers, bees come and settle on them. That is only because there is sweet, pure nectar in them. If you put out a plastic flower instead, not one bee comes there. This nectar itself is Prema. This very Prema attracts all. It may be a mother's love, a father's love, the love of friends. Prema alone attracts everyone. That very Prema is the powerful magnet. That magnet fills the whole world. Since we belong to the world, the magnet that is in the world has entered human beings. When a son is born to parents, the parents' features pass to the son. In the same way, the jīva that has come forth from the world also takes on the form of the world.

The Ātma is the atom; that is the divine principle

Creation is itself the proof of the will of Īśvara. In every human being born in Prakṛti, the feeling of being Īśvara itself must arise. Every human being comes forth in the world for this very purpose: to attain this Godhood. Man is the one who took form in order to manifest that Godhood. Every person and every object born in the world is the very form of God. That itself is power. This power is not something anyone creates. Nor is it something anyone destroys. It is indestructible. Divine power is indestructible. But you can change it from one power into another kind. You can change magnetic power into electrical power. You can change it from electrical power into the power of light. You can change the power of light into atomic power. In this way you can change power into many forms, but you cannot make power cease to be. Divinity is that alone which undergoes no such change and is not destroyed. So there is no world and no place without Divinity. Divinity is present in every atom and every particle.
