In plain words
That light of life is in you itself. That supreme light is in you itself. The light of the Ātma is in you itself. The light of non-duality is in you itself. The light of Ānanda is in you itself. So we need fear nothing for this. We must not let go of Divinity.
God dwells in the heart
Though great riches come to you, though you ride on elephants and horses, though you get the name of madman, though people call you with affection, do not forget God, O man! Do not let go of the Name!
When you develop such a principle in yourself, what meditation could be greater than this? Whatever you do will be meditation on God. Where else is the Ānanda that is in this? If God is in your heart, what Ānanda that is! Where is God's dwelling? Not somewhere else. He dwells in the heart. If you think, ‘God is in me itself,’ you will commit no wrongs. You will enter into no fault. You will fear no one. You need fear for no one's sake. Your conscience will give you guidance. Respect all. Love all in the right way. Believe that God is in all. But do not hate anyone. Only, do not forget your heart. God is right there. He is not outside. worship a picture as God but not God as picture. You must take up that principle. Your picture is within you. Keep it safe. Whatever science may teach, whatever Vedānta may say, in the very end the atom, the atom alone remains for us. All is full of atoms.
God is not visible to the eyes of flesh. These eyes of flesh see only the outer world. One must see with the subtle eye of wisdom. Only then does true Divinity become fully clear. Ah, I had become a madman. Being God myself, why did I play mad games? Many people know this. A man who has been drinking does all sorts of things. His action he himself does not know. Afterwards his wife and children laugh. When the intoxication wears off, he himself is ashamed: ‘Chī, did I do such things?’ In the same way, today one filled with worldly vāsanās looks like a man in drink. One sunk in the vāsanās of the senses knows nothing. If you set out from the vāsanās of the senses with the principle of the Lord of the universe, then your own principle becomes clear to you.
God alone is the guru
So believe, with a pure feeling, that He is in your very heart: God is everything to me; there is no real guru in the world. There is one guru for all. God is one for the people of all countries. But you may call that God by many names. Names and forms may differ. However many tests you make, you must keep recognising the basic principle in them. Gulāb jāmun, barfi, Mysore pāk, pālkova: people speak of so many names. In all of them there is sugar. In the same way, Divinity is in everything. There is no taste at all in flour. When you mix sugar into it, it is still that same flour. Flour of split pulses has no taste at all. Put sugar into that very flour and make laddus, and it is sweet. Through contact with a quality it changes in this way. Make your lives fulfilled through contact with God.
