In plain words
Why pile up books like hills and mounds and read them?
Their books are filled with learning in plenty, their heads are filled with dirt galore; can such people come to know Me? However much learning they have, what is the use?
Merely uttering ‘Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Govinda, Nārāyaṇa’ with the tongue alone is not enough; you must install Him in your heart. Saying ‘Rāma’ only when you happen to go to Rāma's temple, saying ‘Kṛṣṇa’ only when you see Kṛṣṇa's photo: all this is a big stunt! This is not true Bhakti.
What is within is the real news! All that is outside is ‘nuisance’
The man of today tries to know everything in the world. But he does not try to know who he is. How is America? How is Russia? How is Pakistan? With these questions he pores over the newspapers. Today's newspaper becomes tomorrow's ‘waste paper’. These are not newspapers but nuisance papers! What is within us is the ‘real news’. That is what we must know. A ‘newspaper’ by its nature has no smell of any kind. Wrap jasmine flowers in it, and it smells of jasmine. Wrap ‘dry fish’ in the same paper, and we cannot even go near it. Such a bad smell comes from it. This is the fault of contact, not its own nature. That is why:
Give up the company of the wicked; seek the fellowship of the good; do meritorious deeds day and night; remember always that all is passing.
Follow all four of these. Run away from bad company. Keep far from the company of the wicked; join the company of the good. Do good deeds without ceasing. Vyāsa told the essence of the eighteen Purāṇas in two sayings: “Paropakāraḥ puṇyāya pāpāya parapīḍanam.” Help ever, hurt never. Follow this, and that is enough. All countries will be safe and well. This whole world is like one big mansion. In it each country is like a room. If we think of it this way, all of us become one.
All are Mine, I belong to all!
Swami does not like birthday celebrations to be held. But since you have all come, it had to be done for your satisfaction. I have no desire of any kind. Believe it or not, from My foot to My head there is not a single wish. Whatever I do is for you; whatever I say is for you. You must recognise this truth. I have no enemies. I am an enemy to no one. All are Mine. I belong to all. “Lokāssamastāssukhino bhavantu.” All must be happy. This is My wish. All must enter the good path. They must earn a good name. They must believe that all are embodiments of the Ātma. They must experience the principle of the Ātma. Until such oneness comes, they must take up, to some extent, sādhanas such as remembering God, singing to Him, repeating His Name and meditating on Him. Install in your heart the root principle of today's message. Above all, keep these five rules.
1. Don't waste money. Misuse of money is evil
Do not waste money. Do not misuse money buying photos you do not need. If you want, keep just one photo; that is enough.
