In plain words
Why has this doubt come to you? This is your weakness. I will certainly do it,” said Kṛṣṇa. He went, and did duty at night from two o'clock to three. At three Arjuna came on for his duty. Kṛṣṇa, seated on a rock, spoke with a smile. “There is no ghost anywhere, no demon.” Arjuna asked, “Kṛṣṇa! Have You killed this ghost?” Kṛṣṇa said, “I did not need to kill it. It is not a ghost, not a demon, not a goblin. It is your reflection, reaction, resound. It is your anger that appears in this ghostly form. Your fear and your enmity take on this kind of form. When your anger grows, wanting to kill it, its form too goes on growing. I have no hatred for them. I have no anger towards it. I rejoice in the feeling that it is a part of Me, and that is why it did not grow before Me. It is your own hatred that appears to you as a huge ghost. It is your own anger that appears before you as a great enemy. We have no enemies at all. There are none who hate us. Our own qualities are our enemies; our own qualities are those who hate us. Reflection of the Inner being: it is the feelings within us that are reflected outside. If we develop Prema without hatred, it is the very form of Prema that will come before us.” Students must not foster hatred, or jealousy, or anger towards anyone. All of it is a loss to you yourself.
Ānanda is the root of Śānti
One's own anger is one's enemy; one's own happiness is heaven; one's own sorrow is hell, it was said.
Always stay in Ānanda. Then you will always experience Ānanda alone. Stay as the embodiment of Śānti, and you will experience Śānti alone. When we think of nursing hatred against someone, the hatred goes on growing in us. It is not against someone else that the hatred grows: it is hatred within yourself that you are fostering. Kṛṣṇa went on teaching this truth to the Pāṇḍavas. From then on the Pāṇḍavas killed hatred in themselves. Because they killed that hatred, they went on winning victory.
