In plain words
Just as these electric waves are present wherever you look, saṅkalpas pervade everywhere. When someone sings on the radio in Delhi, the same sound is heard on the radio in Prasanthi Nilayam. How did these waves come from Delhi? They join the air, take on the form of these waves and enter the radio. So saṅkalpas are most excellent, powerful and sacred. So we must try to turn our saṅkalpas into excellent saṅkalpas. No bad feeling of any kind must enter saṅkalpa. When bad saṅkalpas arise, people do nothing but bad deeds. When cruel saṅkalpas enter you, you behave like cruel beasts. But when fruitful saṅkalpas filled with Prema come in, it takes shape as splendid divinity. Every man’s heart must be filled with Prema, kindness and compassion. As the saṅkalpas are, so too is the result of the actions. Some people keep bad saṅkalpas in their minds and do many good deeds. But all those deeds turn bad. Seen with an outward eye, the actions one does look good. But seen with the inner feelings, these deeds are spoiled by evil saṅkalpas. For this spoiling and for this bearing fruit, the saṅkalpas within are the root foundation. As I said yesterday, for the building called the body, the mind made of saṅkalpas is like the foundation. However handsome the building above may look, its safety rests on the foundation alone. So the saṅkalpas of the mind are very important. Only when the foundations, the saṅkalpas, are secure is it possible to build any number of storeys above. Today, under the influence of the Kali age, every man’s mind too is entering the bad path through a great many vikalpas. So we must try to make man’s saṅkalpas sacred. Nothing surpasses this sacredness, and that is the Name. Through the chanting of the Name, our saṅkalpas take us like a boat across any sea, however vast.
