In plain words

At the very end, this is what Rāvaṇa taught. “People of the world! Unable, like me, to conquer attachments, unable, like me, to curb cravings, unable, like me, to curb desires, in the end I too am ceasing to be. What is left to me in this world? Ill fame alone has remained. Good fame belongs to Rāma. So, for that very reason, win good fame. Do not give ill fame the least foothold,” Rāvaṇa taught. The principle of Rāma destroys sins and hatreds in the world and makes humanness grow. We must make room in ourselves for this ideal principle of Rāma.

Rāma demonstrated ideal humanness

Rāma went about simply as an ordinary man; he went on offering the ideal path. He did not live as Rāma, did he? Rāma lived as an ordinary man and attained the principle of sālokya. Rāma demonstrated an ideal principle of the Ātma. That is why the Rāmāyaṇa is most urgently needed by the world today. The reason is this: children do not listen to their father's word. Fathers do not show their children proper ideals. Gurus do not teach their disciples the proper path. Disciples do not give proper gurus the respect due to them. The merchants, officials, rulers and ruled of today have all become polluted. They are sunk in strife. This going by what the world approves is the very road to such polluted strife. They have forgotten the principle of Rāma. They have awakened the principle of kāma. They have destroyed the principle of the jīva. They have forgotten divinity. That is why human beings are falling into so many troubles. God too: God in human form. But even though the Avatāra has come in human form, as our Sandeep Sahani said. How do the people of today pray to God? Their wishes must be fulfilled. Their bodies must be given comforts. Their minds must be granted peace. To ask in this way is natural.
