In plain words
Man today is sinking and wasting away with joy, with sorrow and with troubles of many kinds. However much relish there is for sense pleasures connected with this world, not even one part of it is there for faith in God.
The worry there is in the world over supporting sons and friends, over business and talk, the worry that ever arises over gaining wealth, grain, enjoyment and fame: that worry, in the world, for a moment, on the twin lotus feet of Nanda's son
To set the mind on God's feet with even one part in a thousand of it is great good fortune! However much you agonise for wealth, grain, enjoyment and fame, could you not set one moment's part of it on faith in God! There is none at all. Man offers everything, life itself, to this transient thing. What is the use of offering it? What is there to experience? What we offer, we must offer to faith in God. Only then do we gain Śānti of every kind, peace in the world, peace of mind; Śānti of all kinds comes to us.
The good of society is the chief goal
Individually, as a family, socially, we can experience Śānti of many kinds. We must keep society as our aim. If there is no society, we do not exist. Our family does not exist. So first, society: from society I was born. I am a member of society. Recognising this truth, we must keep wishing for the welfare of society. You must not keep only your own joy as your aim. On this very ground: ‘May all the worlds be happy’. From ancient times the sacred culture of Bhārata and its spiritual principle have been giving peace and security, through inquiry, to the whole world and to creation. Bhārata alone gives peace and security to every country.
