Passage 11

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

But if we switch the main switch on, light comes in all the rooms. So what is this main switch? It is none other than the heart. If we develop Prema in the heart, Prema grows in all hearts too. All hearts keep shining. So what is the sādhana we must do today? Not merely for oneself, nor for one's family: we must pray for the sake of society. That is, we must fill our hearts full with our Prema. We must share with every man this Prema that we have filled within us. How should we fill it? We must fill it with Satya and Dharma alone. If there is Satya and Dharma in this thing called the tank, nothing but Satya and Dharma will come from all the taps. What are these taps? Our sight, ears, speech, hands: all these are just taps. When we fill the thing called the heart with water full of Prema, Prema alone emerges in all the five elements. Whatever we do, society will accept. That is why we must keep the welfare of society in view. We must not think, ‘My own selfishness alone is what matters to me.’ Self is lovelessness, love is selflessness. Love lives by giving and forgiving; self lives by getting and forgetting. We must first of all keep this truth in mind. When we live with Prema, when we try to achieve Prema, when we keep Prema alone as our goal, we meet no sorrow, hardship or grief anywhere.

In the spiritual life Prema alone is paramount

Embodiments of Prema! Today you are doing sādhanas of many kinds. Whether you do sādhanas or not, the foundation of everything is the Prema principle. Whatever sādhana you do without Prema is merely artificial. All that is only art, art, art. What is filled with Prema is heart. Heart is inside, art is outside. So all this art has come from the heart itself. So develop the main switch, the heart. Keep the main switch in the right position. If we live with this Prema, there is no need to do any sādhanas.
