Passage 12

In plain words

They go and sit in dhyāna. They sit without stirring or moving, calling this dhyāna. If a tiny mosquito, small as an atom, lands, they swat it at once. When so small a mosquito lands on so big a body, what harm is done? That small mosquito, landing on this body, keeps increasing the body's attachment to itself. When even so small a mosquito catches hold, the body cannot bear it. So full of fault is this body. So full of narrow feelings is this body. That is why we must pay no heed at all to a body like this. Anything may happen to a man. But it concerns the body alone; the Ātma has no connection with it. The Ātma alone is my God. This very body is what it has made its dwelling: ‘Deho devālayaḥ prokto jīvo devassanātanaḥ’, Body is the Temple of GOD. So in this temple called the body, in each and every temple, the God called the Ātma is installed. So you will recognise the oneness of the two, body and Ātma.

There are many limbs in this body. What are all these limbs? Limbs of the body. What is the cause of these limbs? This society itself is the cause. What is the cause of society? Prakṛti itself is the cause. What is the cause of Prakṛti? God Himself is the cause. So all this Prakṛti has emerged from the Paramātma itself. So each one stands as master of the other. Inquiring in this way, we must take hold of the oneness of all. That is why the ancient Brāhmaṇas of those days all said, ‘Annaṃ brahma’. O God! Bestow this food we have eaten everywhere among people, and give strength to this body. What is this strength for? The body is given strength only so that you may practise your dharma, only so that you may carry out your service. Then the mind asks for ‘raso viṣṇuḥ’. Who is this Viṣṇu whose form is rasa? The mind itself. The mind too is praying. It asked to be given good understanding, so that it might protect the body, set it flowing on the right path, and stay in satsaṅga. Then next, speech: what does speech say? You gave a beautiful body. You gave a pure mind. Set sacred speech in me. So from Brahmā, Viṣṇu.
