In plain words
We are only increasing the cravings that remain.
All these cravings are merely animal cravings! Beastly cravings! We must not let these beastly cravings in at all. We must keep on growing the human values. They are none other than Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema. Animal cravings are growing just because the human values are lost. If we feed these animal cravings and want only happiness and Śānti to come to us. How will they come? We are growing evil feelings; we are growing an evil state. We are doing evil deeds. How will Śānti come to us? That is why, when Vyāsa too asked Nārada to teach him what the way to this Śānti was: ‘Vyāsa! You have written so many Purāṇas. In the setting of these Purāṇas, Divinity will not reveal itself to you. Remembering, singing, writing, write the Bhāgavatam,’ he said.
The Riches in the Five Syllables of Bhāgavatamu
Within this Bhāgavatam, the things that have come forth for man. All the things that have entered it point to the sacred path. This is what they call ‘secret text too’. But this is not a secret; it is something very sacred.
Bha, ga, va, ta, mu: five syllables. In these five syllables are our five prāṇas. These same are our five elements. These same are our five kośas. These same are our five forms. These same are the five stations too. What station? Bha for Bhakti, ga for Jñāna, va for Vairāgya, ta for tattva, mu for Mukti. Within these five syllables alone he taught us ‘the path of Mukti’.
What comes first for this Mukti? Bhakti. What do we gain through this Bhakti? Through this Bhakti a śakti arises in us. Through this śakti a rakti is born. As this rakti grows, virakti comes. As virakti grows, Vairāgya is born. That is why we must first of all sow the seed called Bhakti.
