In plain words
This body and this mind, both of them, belong to darkness. ‘Tamasaḥ parastāt’, they said. Not somewhere far away. Not in some other country. He is beyond darkness. He is beyond darkness, that is, beyond our mind and body. This śarīra mādyaṃ khalu dharma sādhanaṃ: He gave the body for the practice of Dharma. But He gave the mind so as to bring the body proper nourishment. So both of these belong only to the negative. So we must hold on to the positive. That itself is the principle of the Ātma. When we keep the positive within, the negatives cannot work at all. If that positive called Prema is absent, everything is simply in vain, they said. So hold on to that thing called Prema. That Prema itself is the form of God: 'Love is GOD, Live in LOVE'. This principle of Prema: what kind of Prema? Pure Prema, selfless Prema. What does that mean? Self is lovelessness, love is selflessness. That is why this thing called love. Selflessness love is true Prema. This we must grow. Only through it does what is called divinity come to us, in moments. Not days. Not years, not ages: in moments alone they come to us. Just as the light comes on at once when you put on a switch, in the same way, when we develop the true principle of Prema, God appears to us in a single moment. So, as long as we are in this world, fulfilling our duty, honouring this world too: this world too is the very form of God. All things in this world are the very form of God. So if we look on everything as the form of God, that itself is our true duty. That itself is true sādhana. There is no other sādhana greater than this. All the sādhanas done today are, every one of them, bound up with selfishness. This selfishness: for what are we doing our dhyāna? We do it because we want God. So it is only something you do for your own sake, and not something done for the world and for society, is it! What we must do for the sake of all together is prayer.
