In plain words

What is the result?

Fill yourself with good qualities, drive out the bad

In the world today man has taken on a sacred life and assumed a sacred humanness, yet he does not nourish his own sacred hearts, does not recognise such things as what dwells in this heart, and in his worldly, physical life he fails to recognise his own Satya. If wolves get into houses where gentle creatures such as cows live, what will become of those animals! So if, in that place in the human heart where such cows live as sacred, sāttvic Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema, forbearance and sympathy, angers like tigers and hatreds like wolves get in, what will become of these sāttvic animals? So man today lets in these bad qualities and evil thoughts, and loses his own sāttvic feelings. Man must not leave his own sāttvic qualities unnourished and unguarded and let these wicked feelings in. In man today envy, Ahaṅkāra and hatred have settled in beyond measure. How can sacred qualities stay in such a heart?

A man built a house for himself. He also put a main gateway on that house. For what purpose did he build this main gateway? He built this gate so that he himself, those dear to him, his relatives and his family could come in through it. But the dogs, jackals and monkeys that roam the bazaar are not meant to walk through it. But in just the same way: ‘Deho devālayaḥ prokto jīvo deva ssanātanaḥ’. In the house called the body he has built doors of many kinds. But when he has built these, these gates, he does not let in everything that goes along the bazaar. Yet man today lets in all these needless things of one sort and another. If this hatred, envy and Ahaṅkāra get inside, what will become of the good qualities and good conduct that live within?
