In plain words
Leaving what is near, we run after a God who is far away. All the things that are far away are only reflections.
Nārāyaṇa Is Only Where the Name Is Remembered
Once upon a time Nārada questioned Nārāyaṇa. ‘Swami! Now and then I come for Your darśan. Where do You live? Where is Your abode?’ he asked. ‘Madbaktāḥ yatragāyanti tatra tiṣṭhāmi nārada.’ Wherever My devotees keep remembering Me, there I stand installed. Kailāsa, Svarga, Vaikuṇṭha: all these are branch offices, but the heart alone is the head office. That itself is what we must come to know today. If we come to know that heart, we will not be able to go anywhere at all. We will turn even that mind towards the heart. We will experience Ānanda always. There is no way at all to be without this Ānanda. All that comes from the heart is only Ānanda. All that comes from sugar is only sweetness! If this sweetness is lost, it is no sugar at all. Each thing has its own dharma. If you cut a lemon, sourness comes. That is natural to it. But if sweetness comes from that lemon, it is not a lemon. In just the same way, if bad feelings come from our heart, it is not a heart at all. Only when good feelings, pure feelings, sweet feelings come from the heart is it a heart. So we must make a fitting effort for good feelings to come from the heart. Whatever bad feelings may come, we must pay them no heed at all. So today we must bring about the right transformation of our heart. We must change our feelings. We must drive away these bad feelings. So we must grow divine feeling. If all these are to come, Prema alone is the way to it. So live your lives with Prema alone.
