In plain words
That is exactly why pollution has begun in the Kali age. The Gaṅgā is supremely holy for Bhārata. Even such holy Gaṅgā water has become polluted. If we drink such water, we become polluted. First of all we must purify the water. When you purify the air, your five sheaths become pure. Today the five sheaths have become polluted. The five elements, the five prāṇas, the five senses: all these are sacred. We ourselves are defiling them. If you serve society while remembering the Name of God, there will be growth beyond measure. You must not set out to do harm. You must not hurt anyone. You must not trouble anyone. You must not do violence to anyone. If human beings do not check such feelings, will animals check them? Now I think it is the animals that are better. Because even cattle, birds and beasts are better than man. They have a season, a reason. Man has no season, no reason. He is going to ruin over everything. Animals live within limits. So animals are far greater than man.
Prajñāna Is Greater than Science
However much science there is, what is the fruit? Prajñāna is greater than science. Man, a man of science: what is the use? He is becoming lower than an animal. Always just hurting someone: is this science? No, no. Science is what gives joy without causing pain. Science is what brings delight. Science is what gives help beyond measure. Not the reverse: what hurts others is not science. What does violence to others is not science. What reviles others is not science. Reviling others, doing violence to others: these must be put far away. Only then does he take shape as a true man. To take shape as a man, he must make the five prāṇas worthwhile. Samyak dṛṣṭi, samyak śravaṇa, samyak vāk, samyak hṛdaya, samyak karma. When you make these five elements one, you will live in comfort beyond measure. Only when man enters such a path will all this become worthwhile: building bhajan halls, building temples, building mosques.
