In plain words
Man is truly the very form of God. Such sacred qualities are in man. But he is not putting those qualities into practice in the right way, with real effort. Divinity is in every man. Unable to recognise that divinity, falling into dealings that concern merely the body, the life-breath and the mind, he is wasting his precious life. What sort of being is man? He thinks land valuable. He thinks a diamond greatly valuable. He believes gold valuable. A great mistake. Who is it that gives this diamond its value? Who is it that gives gold its value? Who is it that gives land its value? Man himself. Without man himself, these have no value at all. So it was said, “Men are more valuable than all the wealth of the world.” Man is more valuable than everything in this world. Courtesy and good character are man's chief qualities. Prema alone is his life-breath; without Prema there is no man at all. So, Love is God. Live in love. Today we must develop that principle of Prema. We must develop Prema that is wide. In this wide world our Prema must be wide. In this wide world kindness must be wide. If you keep so narrow a Prema in so very wide a world, that is not true humanness. Everything must grow wide. Only then can true humanness be recognised. So many hardships, losses and sorrows befall this body and this mind. All these are only passing clouds; they are not lasting. They come and they go. But the qualities matter very much. We must nurture those qualities. The world has its ideals. Every country has its common dharmas. The day they give up these dharmas and these ways, that very day they go to ruin. The culture of Bhārata is very sacred. However many thousands of years pass, it stands firm and lasting, never stirring, never shifting. There is a vast tree. Only when the roots of this tree turn downward, at the bottom, towards the water in the pātāla, does the tree stand safe.
