In plain words

Who are your own? A clever student went to an āśrama nearby. The swāmi of the āśrama was giving many kinds of teaching. Meanwhile rain came. It grew dark. The boy could not go home. Then this swāmi said, ‘My son! It has grown dark. It is raining. You cannot go home. Sleep right here tonight,’ he said. The boy said: “Swami, if I do not go home, my mother and father will not sleep. They will not eat. I have a wife too. She too will not sleep and will not eat. All of them will be in great distress. So I will go home,” he said. ‘You foolish boy! This is how you think. Everyone has worldly kinds of Prema. They have them. But true Prema no one has. They raised you and brought you up, so there is only the Prema that belongs to the body.’ Then he asked where he had come from. “I have come from the kingdom of Jitendriya. The name of our kingdom is the kingdom of Jitendriya. My father is Jitendriya. My name is Mohacandra. Satyajit I have won,” he said. “I simply must go home. My mother and father will be greatly troubled,” he said. “In this one night itself, recognise your parents' Prema; understand it well,” he said. The boy did not let go of the stand he had taken. “I simply must go,” he said. “Go, by all means. Give your mother and father their joy. They are the very ones who bore you, brought you up and raised you. But I am giving you a few kinds of teaching. Put this teaching well to the test,” he said. He gave him a pill. “As soon as you reach home, put it in your mouth and drink some water,” he said. “You will fall down as if you had died. But you will not die. I will give you the power to hear whatever they say,” he said. Saying, “All right, I'll see,” he went. He ate his meal, put the pill in his mouth and drank water. At once he fell down. It looked as though he had died. Mother, father, wife and friends all gathered there. “Where did he go, to which āśrama did he go, who knows? It is so painful,” they were crying out. Just at that moment the swāmi came. Mother, why are you weeping?
