In plain words
This boy came from my āśrama only just now. What happened? Why has he died like this? “We do not know, Swami; as soon as he came from your āśrama he ate his meal and died. Who knows what you yourself did!” So they went on putting the blame on the swāmi himself. ‘You are very much mistaken. Have a little patience. I will bring him back to life,’ he said. “Oh! If you bring him back to life, what more could we want than that?” So the wife, the parents, everyone rejoiced. He said one thing. “Take this glass of water. Whoever drinks this water will die. The boy will live,” he said. He took it to the father. “King! When you want a king, you need a son. Drink it and give up your life. Your son will live,” he said. Then the father said, ‘Swāmiji, I have other children still. Who will look after all of them? Who will rule so large a kingdom? Who will understand this? This one is still young, isn't he? I cannot die,’ he said. He went to the mother. “A mother's heart, isn't it? Drink this water and bring your son back to life,” he said. “Oh! I still have daughters, and they all have to be married. There is so much to be done. If I, the woman, am not in the house, none of this work gets done. Without women, a house becomes a jungle. I will not drink,” she said. He thought, “Well, even if you two do not agree, the wife will surely agree.” He went to her. “Mother, this widow state has begun for you. You are going to be a widow. Your husband has lost his life. He has given up his life. Drink, and your husband will live,” he said. She said: “I am my mother's only child. If I die, both my parents will die. Who knows what will become of my property? I will not drink this water,” she said. The three went inside. Who knows what plan the three made: a Viśveśvarayya plan! The three came and bowed. Swami, all of us have so many bonds. You have no bond at all, have you? You have no responsibility of any kind. So drink it yourself and bring my son back to life. Not only this, the mother says: “Swami, we will have your samādhi built in marble stone.
