In plain words
With this very thing in view, they set the right teaching in the Gāyatrī mantra. Om bhūr bhuvas suvaḥ. We think of them as the earth, the middle world and the world above. No, no. These three worlds are right within us. Bhūr: materelisation. That itself is the body. Bhuvaḥ: vibration; that itself is prāṇa. Suvaḥ: that itself is radiation. That itself is Prajñānaṃ Brahma. These three worlds are right within us. If we want to escape these three kinds of bondage, we must offer our Prema to God. They spoke of the morning sandhyā, the midday sandhyā and the evening sandhyā. All these things they kept teaching to children at the time of their upanayana. Where are such teachings today? We are forgetting everything. In ancient times they put this into practice. Today practice has gone. It has become decoration. It has become an ornament. They take it merely as decoration. Ānanda lies in practice alone. However many branches of learning you study without practice, they all come to an end. First of all, we must put it into practice. Practical science is what we need. We do not need platform speeches. All these platform speeches are superficial knowledge. Bookish knowledge: we gain no benefit at all from it. Put it into practice. There is potato chapati on the plate. Say ‘potato chapati’ a hundred times: will your stomach be filled at all? Take it just once and put it in your mouth, and your stomach is filled. That is what practical Science is. Eat, practise, enjoy, put it into practice: that is what gives you Ānanda. What use is Bhakti that is not in practice?
Oneness
Embodiments of Prema! Practise at least one or two things. Only then will we find the Śānti that is right for us. There are three people in our home. The three have no unity. When there is no unity, however much there is, what is the use? There are three. Mother, father, son.
