Passage 12

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

When it is so, there is no room at all for hatred, for these feuds and upheavals. What is the reason for so much upheaval and unrest in the world today? The lack of equal-mindedness is itself the root cause. Only when this equal-mindedness comes will the principle of Prema arise in all.

What Is a Saptāha?

Embodiments of Prema! Today, within the great festival of Navarātri, people are performing seven kinds of pūjā on these seven days. They are offering worship in seven ways. They have given it the name saptāha. What is the reason for calling it saptāha? Why should it be called saptāha? In the matter of numbers too, the seven notes, the seven worlds, the seven seas: all come in sevens. In music there are seven notes. Sa ri ga ma pa da ni. All these are right within us. There is nothing at all different from you. Thinking that God stands apart from you is Ajñāna. For you to search for God somewhere is great Ajñāna. You yourself are the form of God. Believing yourself to be merely a human being, and taking this very human form as something of a support, you believe, “I am so-and-so.”

What Is the Heart?

The body is not the real thing. Body is like a water bubble. Mind is like a mad monkey. Why do you put your trust in this mad monkey, in this water bubble? When will the water bubble burst, who knows. When will this monkey fall, who knows. Its very name is monkey. You must change that monkey into mankind. Follow your own conscience. Only then will you gain the contentment of the Ātma. The Ātma is the heart, and God is the dweller in the heart. Everything arises from the heart alone. The heart is nothing but the seat of God. From the seat of God, only good things must come. Nothing bad, nothing wicked, nothing impure, nothing against Dharma must come from the heart. If this anger, envy and deceit are coming from the heart, you are truly a beast in form, not a human being.
