In plain words
If there were no men of merit in the world, how would the world shine as bright as day?
In Bhārata there are so many with a sacred heart. In the world too there are those with a deeply sacred heart. So you cannot say there are none in the world. They think this spiritual principle belongs to Bhārata alone. No, no. It is there in the whole world. If you truly inquire, today it is actually more in foreign lands than in Bhārata.
Wherever You Look, Only Thoughts of Sai
In Japan, in Germany, wherever you go, this spiritual thinking keeps growing a great deal. Truly, we people of Bhārata do not know what the Upaniṣads are. We do not know what the Brahma Sūtra is. We do not know what the Bhagavad Gītā is. But foreigners are learning the Bhagavad Gītā by heart.
There is one in Italy called President Menolin. His daughter recites the whole Brahma Sūtra. She recites the whole Rudram. There she has built a building called Mother Sai. She has built it on 25 acres. Thinking, ‘Swami may come here some day,’ for that purpose she built a big hall, like the Pūrṇacandra hall. The President's daughter: she has all the money she needs. She has built a big hall. She had all the rooms built for the students and the elders who come with Swami. ‘The Students must be put here, if Swami comes He must be put here, if it is a Public meeting we must hold it in this hall’: like this she has made her plan. She has made master plans for everything. Living like this, she recites the Bhagavad Gītā so very clearly. In our primary school German children are studying. How beautifully they chant the Veda! They chant it very clearly. What is the reason for this? It is the fault of company, nothing else. When the company is good, the children's future too will be good. Tell me your company, I shall tell you what your are: whatever your company is like, you too will be like that.
