Passage 14

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

It cannot give it. Be content with what you have. Be satisfied with as much as there is. Experience Ānanda, share it with your fellow men, and God Himself will give it to you. If only you have that much Bhakti, God Himself will come and appear before you. Our VC said it. Rāma told Hanumān, ‘Go to Laṅkā.’ Jāmbavān, Sugrīva and all the others came up to Hanumān: What is this, Hanumān? You are a monkey. You have no sense at all. The very moment you were told, you agreed to go to Laṅkā. How can you cross so vast an ocean? Hanumān said at once, laughing, ‘You fool! When God has spoken, He Himself gives the strength too. If He did not give that very strength, how could I go? He has given the command, so He Himself will give the strength fit for it. I am surely going,’ he said. At once, with a cry of ‘Rāma!’, he leapt. By the glory of that Name of Rāma he reached Laṅkā. When God has given any command, you must not give the least room to the doubt, ‘I wonder, can I do it?’ He who gives the command gives the very strength fit for it. Because that faith is not in you, you hang back. Truly, do as you are told and see. You will surely achieve victory. Do not give the least room to doubt.

Reduce Your Desires

Today science keeps on growing. As much as science keeps growing, so much do man's doubts keep growing too. All the intellectuals have general knowledge zero. They have no faith at all. They do their research with doubts. All this research is sinking right into doubt. What is good they simply will not believe. As this cleverness develops, faith keeps wasting away. From time to time I tell the children: Less luggage more comfort make travel a pleasure. Reduce your desires. The more you reduce your desires, the more happily you can live. The more you reduce your desires, the more your power of memory will grow. The more you reduce your desires, the more your intelligence will grow. If we are to achieve the right thing as people of good sense, we must reduce our desires a little.
